2. Love That Dog This book is written as a verse novel, and it is about a young boy who does
not like and does not understand poetry. One thing he does understand, however, is his love for his dog "Sky" and it
is the story of his dog that helps him understand himself and poetry a bit more. This novel has an enjoyable style and
humorous characters. Walter Dean Myers even becomes a character in this book. Sharon Creech said she did not intend
to make a real poet a character in this novel, however, once he was there, there was no story without him.

5. Bloomability Domenica Santolina Doone, better known as "Dinnie," claims she was kidnapped
from her family. She was actually sent to a boarding school in Switzerland, far from anything familiar. Dinnie
must reconcile her desire to return home with her growing love for the country of Switzerland and the people she
meets from all over the world at her school. The characters in this novel are very entertaining, as are the
descriptions of Switzerland and life overseas. Any Sharon Creech fan would enjoy this novel because it is based
partially on Creech's own experiences teaching overseas in Switzerland.
